Thanks in advance from a short time lurker and first time poster.

I had an opportunity to buy a MS-1057 that was never assembled from a co-worker of mine. I planned to use a Core2 Duo and bought the 2 gHz model. For RAM, I consulted Crucial and bought the 667 stuff that was listed for the S262 as I thought they were the same models except one you build yourself. I installed the processor, hard drive and RAM, reassembled and powered up. Fan spins briefly, power light stays on and hard drive access light stays on. Nothing on the display.

I tried to boot off a disk that Rob M provided a file for and can hear the optical drive spin up. Everything acts as if it would work except the display never comes up - not even the backlight.

So the question is: is the RAM for the S262 the same or compatible with the MS-1057 or did I buy 2 gigs of the wrong stuff and need to look elsewhere for the source of my problem?

My 2 cents is it is not the RAM; I myself have some generic stuff.

With similar symptoms to yours, I had to re-seat the processor and then everything worked.
