Is it possible to run a 920xm or 940xm in the Erazer?

It should. What CPU do you currently have? That laptop sounds like the rebranded GX660/R. If you already had a core i7, like the 720/740qm, I don't see why you couldn't. Also between 920 and 940, get the 920 and just overclock. They are essentially the same.

At the moment I have only an I5.
But I have heard that the 920 and 940 only work with a Mod-Bios. Is that right or not?

No it will run straight out-the-box, on our forums, says it's 100% compatible (I think that too).
You can OC it with Throttlestop I think. I have one in GX740, it's working out-of-the box, but on the modded bios I have more options (but can oc without it, just use throttle stop, TRL)

Ok, and could I OC a 840qm too?

840QM cannot be easily overclocked like 920XM. Maybe if you mod bios you could but honestly I don't know, nor have I seen an overclocked 7XX or 8XXQM CPUs. My 920XM was free to overclock until thermal and power limits.

If you use 920xm and have your GPU overclocked, you will need a stronger PSU. I used a 150W PSU, otherwise my laptop would shutdown due to lack of power.

There was one for 130Euro. Maybe i will sell for similiar price in some time or will be just selling MSI gx740 with 920xm, quadro k5000m (680m but with pro and cad abilities), and 8gb of ram ofcourse with some cooling moda to keep it cool. Also I have 180w wall brick original msi - it's a must to have, because of power consumption i am thinking about 240 to overclock my card.
