    Hi all,

I have an idea in my mind for upgrading my GT680R to support the SS keyboard.

I know, I know... you guys are thinking I'm nuts, but I've done a bit of research and it seems that a motherboard swap is all I really need. So I'm calling on the "guru's" to provide me with some insight.

Simply put is there a SIZE difference between the 15in and 17in series motherboards?? Pics would be helpful bc referencing sites and videos is pointless. I've done all that and have an idea that they are the same size but I would like some confirmation if possible.

    Thanks

I know the audio board is modular, but I assume the motherboards are different since the audio boards go on different sides.

Why not swap with another rmotherboard from one of the 15.6" instead?

True about the audio board.. I've thought about sourcing a GT60 mobo as that is the only other 15" that supports the SS key, but I'm not really interested in IB ATM.

Guess not really and interesting thread, but still I'm updating...

So, I am almost certain that I've confirmed that MSI motherboards aren't different sizes. The way they get them to work in the 17" chassis is with an extension for the ODD as that is the only thing that gets displaced in the larger frame. Either way, I've source both the mobo from a 780DXR and the SS keyboard for a reasonable price. So for any of you that don't want something updated but don't want to buy a whole new laptop, you can possibly source either a gt60 or gt70 mobo directly from MSI and save yourself some money..
