This temperature thing drove me crazy ever since winter finished and I constantly heard the fan going on and off. Maybe if it had stayed on, but my laptop was in that particular spot (59 to 61 celsius) where it tried to cool itself down, did it, and built up heat again.
I finally figured out what was the problem. After lapping my heatsink and replacing the thermal paste like 300 times, I realized that the heatsink simply wouldn't transfer heat better. The problem was that it transfered just some heat out of the laptop, most stayed in.
Long stroy short, I drilled holes in the bottom plate of my laptop. It looks ugly as hell, but it works. If anybody wants to try it, just make sure to remove the plate before![]()

wow thats what I call hacking
Pictures please! -
would not a good laptop cooler from thermaltake equally do the job if not better of keeping your machine a few degrees cooler? my friend has the same machine as your and he has maximized all the specs the computer could handle. so i could just imagine the total amount of kinetic energy it produces. nonetheless, he was able to keep the temperature at bay by getting a powerful laptop cooler.
but then again it is your machine, and your call. -
Did you use some kind of utility like RMClock so that even if it goes full power it doesn't go to 1.35v?

I've found that using the hose for handheld attachments on a vaccuum and cleaning out the dustlayers that form on the vents helps too
. Periodic maintenance and all. I was able to keep my roommate's laptop from overheating after we I that.
