I've decided to look into them for a laptop purchase and the person who answered my call really dropped the ball for the company. I've read alot of good things about them on nbr but while I was talking to the agent on the phone, he not only brushed away my questions, he straight up refused to allow me to speak to his sales manager or supervisor and hung up on me. Whats going on here?

I did not get far enough in for there to be any other problems, I was just negotiating the pricing with them when I realized that the agent was getting extremely unhelpful. I figured I would try getting someone higher up to talk to but before I know it he hung up. I've been reading that there is a rep from there that is on these forums, should I contact him? I hope this is a localized case.

So you're speaking of a sales call and not customer service?
I understand that Ken is the man whom you wish to get in contact.

If their that bloody rude over there then take your business elsewhere! ;)

Thanks I'll give him an email. Ken seems to be held in high regard on nbr so I'll give them a chance.

Because we consider the call you made earlier was a harassment, you were told that we can not offer 16GB (8GX2) on GX60 for free. The best we can do is on our holiday promotion and free shipping.

You were given the 2% student discount, free shipping and RAM upgrade, but you insist we HAVE to give you the 16GB (8GX2) for free which we refused and you get very upset and rude, DON"T do that again.

i find that the resellers arent very receptive to negotiations on price, but then again, their prices are mostly very reasonable, so i dont mind that too much.

Whoa what? I was in no way upset or rude. If that's what the sale agent told you pull up the phone record because I did no such thing. Sure I was insistent because I have found that in the past when dealing with dell and hp, pressing for such upgrades usually pay off. I in no way harassed anyone as simply told the agent that I would like to speak with the supervisor.
Edit, also I did not in anyway imply that I had to have the upgrade. I am shocked that you guys translated this into harassment.

Not worth arguing over a $25 upgrade man..if they say no just accept that they obviously can't offer you it or they would. Trust me you won't get a better customer service experience anywhere else than Gentech. I've spoken with numerous different reseller's and they were my best experience. You can't hold against them that they didn't offer you the price YOU wanted right?

Jeez man, you are complaining because you couldn't get more freebies than usual, since you are used to pressing matters until people yield? Come on. Blaming customer service as rude for those reasons is wrong.

I have dealt with most resellers here and they are all great. I have bought several machines from gentechpc and have dealt with Ken over the years and the quality is excellent.

When the resellers here can give you promotions, discounts or free upgrades, they will do so almost immediately as you ask. But smothering agents until you get what you want is not cool.

I didn't even know I was arguing with them. I was calmly discussing it and boom o_O disconnected. I'm not holding them to a price point, Its the part where they disconnected the call and ignored me.

I wasn't complaining about the freebies...if you read what I wrote, it was the abrupt disconnect that made me question what was going on. I think negotiating price is in no way smothering a sales agent.

LOL! I KNEW there was more to this little drama.

The mere creation of a thread for such as this, SPEAKS VOLUMES regarding the OP. I guess someone got their feelings hurt on the phone, so run a smear campaign in the forums, right? GEEZ!

    LOL!

I am surprised the Mods haven't jumped all over this thread.

It sounds like a sales complaint not a CS problem. This thread is basically a pile of flamebait so I'm going to close it.
