I am trying to buy/decide on buying a new gaming machine. I've spent the last day reading exhaustively through threads and search trying to put together a pattern of known issues or concerns on the GT series gaming laptops.

I would really, really appreciate it if some of you who own GT systems might chime in on anything I should look out for or know (known issues, etc) before I try to make a final decision. Stuff is on sale at some places right now and I feel like I'm going to be trying to build a statistics case for months, but could likely get from that info much quicker in a post like this from those knowledgeable few who have this specialized knowledge.

You might take a look at some of the owners threads on here (while i know it can be difficult to sift through them all) http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...dominator-pro-gtx-980m-ownerÂ’s-lounge.762800/

Overall they are great machines, don't have any regular complaints on them. One thing that is weird with the new ones on the keyboard is sometimes you will see the wrong colored lights as you are seeing the light diode and not the overall color on the new keyboards that have clear between the top of the key and the base of the keyboard. I've heard of some issues with the edges of the touch pad not being as responsive as the middle as well. Overall we get very low complaints on the GT72's and a lot of raving reviews.

I own a GT72 QD 406. I guess the poor man's GT72 ha ha? Probably the best laptop I've ever owned. I like how they also include a 1 time use of accidental warranty. My backpack recently decided to dump my GT72 on the ground. The warranty covered my damage. No problems with this laptop what-so-ever. Highly recommend to buy one.

I read something about rigidity? Has anyone experienced this?

A bit of flex/squeak and hinge creak? What is the actual experience like there?

We had a Lenovo once that always felt like it was going to come apart at the hinges. Alot of weakness there on that model.

Beyond hinge and rigidty... does anyone have a recommendation for the best place to customize and purchase?
