My ID2 came with home premium 32bit coz I asked someone to build it for me. So what he did was he partitioned the hard drive into 2, 40GB for the OS, and the rest he named it DATA. He installed the OS in the 40GB partition using the disk for the GX720. Now Windows is asking me to validate my copy of Windows. I tried to validate it but it failed.

Since it failed, I got a copy of Vista 64, I reformatted the OS partition using the OS disk, then it started to install. After the installation was done, it rebooted and then stayed on the loading screen for 8hrs (the loading screen with the animated bar)! Tried to install the 64 bit to my cousins desktop and it worked.

    Here are my laptop's specs:

    CPU: T9400
    Mem: 4GB
    HD: WD 320GB
    GPU: 9600m GT 512mb
    Bios: GX720 1.0T

Any help will be much appreciated!

here is what i would do if i were you.
put your vista dvd in and format the hard drives. make ONE partiton only and then install windows on it. windows has problems at times if you have a hard drive with numerous partions on it.

That would be the only way I know, when I installed my 64bit it was done on a new WD 320Gb 7200 RPM with no problems, best of luck to you.

Aparently with 64bit OS it had problems adressing ram i think, so vista 64 sp 1 fix's that.

Ok I did what predator said, I deleted it, and reformatted the hard disk, and tried to install Vista x64. It worked... for awhile..... I installed the drivers... after shutting down the my laptop and thinking everything will be fine, I rebooted when I woke up to continue installation of stuff, it's back to the 'stuck at the loading screen'. I tried using safe mode and it keeps getting stuck at "crcdisk.sys"

hey so you formatted it completely to 1 drive and installed vista 64bit. then did you put service pack 1 on. if you did all that it sounds to me maybe now a driver issue.

Yep I made it into 1 partition only. I used the GX720 drivers. Then installed Mozi Firefox then went to sleep. When I turned it on, it got stuck on the loading screen again so I tried to reinstall it again but it's still the same...

Uhm funny thing tho is that after I did what predator said (make the entire HD into 1 partition only) it worked, then when I started installing the drivers, rebooted, it still worked. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox then went to sleep. As soon as I woke up I booted my laptop to install other software, but I got the same problem when I had 2 partitions.

I highly doubt Firefox had to do with it...

Wow! Three pages and nobody untill now did told you about AHCPI! :D
If you are installing Vista without SP1, then it shoud be Disabled. IF you are installing Vista with SP1 it doesn't matter is it Enabled or Disabled. Microsoft fix this in SP1. But all that I've read makes me conclude that your are installing Vista without SP1. Good Luck!

Well when I tried to install it before (without knowing about AHCPI) it worked but when I restarted, I got the same problem again. I just learned today about AHCPI and I haven't tried to install it yet.

PS. I tried installing Vista x64 with SP1

For some reason using an not legal version of the Windows Vista OS 32/bits it will cause and give you errors during install and or when loading windows.

From reading the replies of others, it would seem that your ES cpu is the problem.
