I just bought ms-1036 with 2gb pc3200 corsair ram. The notebook boots up fine into windows xp with 1gb ram but will not boot with 2gb. Also if i put the 1gb ram in the bottom slot it wont boot up. Is there a bios update or something that will fix this issue? Thanks for the help.

Someone mentioned a compatability issue with cas 2.5 corsair. I am using Patriot 3200 ram 2 GB, at 1 G each and it runs great. I have tried looking for a bios update on their website, and it seems that they do have one, though its labeled for the L715(same as ms-1036). I dont have a floppy usb drive so I can't install it. I have heard you can try booting to DOS using a usb flash drive, but I haven't tried it myself. You can also try using a dos boot cd (just google it...theres instructions on doing it).
The problem with using those rams with fast timings is that, notbook BIOS' hardly ever come with full options for memory timing control unlike desktop machines. -
You can flash the bios with a cd. I did it. I have the newest bios which was sent to me from MSI because of my DoA laptop. I burnt a boot disk using Nero and added the MSI bios and updater to a folder on the CD. Post if you would like me to send you the bios or help with flashing.
