    Hey Guys,
Found this site and joined today! Love using it so i became a member. :hi2:
Ok...So i purchased a lightly used GX740 and the guy I purchased it from did a clean reload of Windows on it, but there's no recovery partition on the HDD, so I don't know if they orignally had one and he just wiped it or if the gx740 came with a restore disk, the reason I'm asking is cause I would assume that software came with the laptop to allow for overclocking the CPU from 1.6 to 2.8? Wanted to know if anyone could confirm if it did or what software I need to download to allow for that and also if someone can point me to the correct Optical HDD Bay to buy as I want to install a Crucial M4 ssd as priomary then the 500gb that it came with for file backup in the optical drive hdd bay. Also would like to know if anyone could recommend the best found video drivers for their gx740, I did the automatic driver select on AMD and it said I have the most current, when I open CCC there's not many options there. Also the laptop came with 4gb or ram I want to expand to 16gb but not sure what's the best performance memory modules to purchase if someone could point me in the right direction, phew sorry I know that's a lot to ask, thanks in advance!! :D

    Well first off: Welcome! :hi2:

Your CPU should "overclock" automatically depending on load, per Intel's Turbo Boost technology. But if you want to OC the base frequency, you'll need to use aftermarket software. Here's a link with quite a few options and descriptions (and there are several others besides these): Best overclocking software: 15 top apps | News | TechRadar

Optical bay caddy's for hard drives are all pretty similar as far as I know. I'll save buying recommendations for others, but here's a guide at least to get you on the right track: Step 2: Mount The Hard Disk In The OptiBayHD Caddy : Install A Hard Drive Or SSD In Your Notebook's Optical Bay

For graphics, I think the 12.11 driver (formerly BETA, until recently) is the latest driver. If you have that, you're set! AMD Support Search

In regards to memory, just make sure it is DDR3 and 1066MHz, and you should be fine.
