i was goin through the reviwes of msi gt627 laptop and saw this
i would recommend this laptop to others, but there are some changes you have to make before it is ready for 24/7 use (partition resized, 2d clocks upped to 200 with software, uninstalling norton, and installing the blu-ray software.)
what dows this mean and what are these softwares which need to be installed

it is nothing but user preference. the blu-ray is not needed. and the clocks being upped just means upping the graphic speed in the 2-d settings using rivatuner. and resizing partitons is still just user preference.
if you are looking at that to buy check this out. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9050279&type=product&id=1218012519873 -
It just means that it takes a little time to optimize it, same as any other laptop really. But yeah, you need to install the bluray player from the included disc or other players in order to play bluray. It doesn't play bluray discs out of the box.
As for the Asus, you might need to consider its bulkier size, weight, screen resolution, battery size etc... I had a hard time choosing between G50VT-A2 and GT627, but after seeing the G50VT-X5 from Best Buy, I have been very satisfied choosing GT627. -
