Hello - I've done a stupid thing with my 1 day old laptop. I went into my bios and changed the graphic card setting (there's 4 in either the north or southbridge settings- IGC, IGC/PCI, etc etc.). Now I can't get a display.

Would someone tell me the key command or exact series of arrows and returns to get my settings back?

    HEEELLLP!

    Hi.

I just read the manual , and it does not mention those selections, maybe it`s not accurate.

Have you tried plugging an external monitor into your GT627.

If all else fails you could see if you can get access to the bios battery normally a coin cell, though one of the panels on the bottom of the notebook and remove the battery to a minute or two and then refit it should cause the bios to re-set to defaults, some notebooks will give you access some dont.

Yeah - those settings are not in the manual. The graphics in that thing have not been updated. I looked there thinking I could trace the steps.

If I remove the panel, I break the seal and out goes my warranty.

    Hi.

Removing the panels will not affect your warranty, as long as you don't make a right mess of it.

can you see the coin cell in the picture of my notebook! , yours might be similar.

EDIT : you just started this thread, give a a few hours for some GT627 owners to give you advice first.

I'm going to try the "remove battery and power for an hour" trick and see if things snap back to defaults. If they do I'll let the thread know. Could help someone in the future.

    Hi.

Removing the main battery will not reset the bios , only removing the bios battery will do that.

did you try plugging in an external monitor?

    Hi.

I thought of updating the bios to the newest, but how does he select the floppy, cd, or usb, to boot the firmware when he cannot see anything.

Keeping the system unplugged with no battery for an hour didn't help.

I had to remove the bios battery in order to get the bios back to normal. Had to crack open the case.

    Cary,
    Just try this:
right after you power on your laptop start presing INS key. On many MB manufacturers this is the key to reset BIOS settings. Try with holding it on and also with pressing it many times. If that doesn't help ... then there is only one way - people said it before - to take out the BIOS battery.

I still don't have this laptop so I'm not sure if it has a reset pin hole.

On several notebooks I've seen a small reset hole that you can press with a paper clip. So try to look for a tiny reset hole in the bottom of the lappie.

Other option would be to call MSi tech support and ask for directions on how to reset the BIOS.

    Good luck!
