I have recently noticed EXTREMELY low performance on games I used t max out (BF3 to be more exact) so I did a 3DMARK11 test and here are the results...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-1762

I did one earlier (lost it) giving me only 4k graphic score.

Also on BF3 I get REALLY terrible FPS drops. Like I play at 60-80fps for a while (custom settings) then on the same map with me as only player and no explosions, it drops to a constant 15-25 FPS and never goes back up.

The only overclock, I have ever done is +135/+700 stock voltage. And I only did this rarely while playing more intensive games. Also stock vBios...

My specs are on the 3Dmark 11 link (I also made sure 3dmark was run with my GPU instead of integrated optimus)

Edit: By raising my laptop in order for more air to circulate, I was able to score much higher on my 3dmark score..

5749 graphics score. Going to try to clean air vents with compressed air and see how that affects my score.

I suspect it might be my GPU throttling when it reaches high temps.

Use HWmonitor, MSIafterburner etc to monitor temps and %utilization.

Also, if you haven't done this, clean your laptop. Dust buildup is the main culprit for high temps.

That's about right, I get 6186 with the new 340.52 driver on my similar hardware. I tend to run fan controlled to 70%, on automatic I get some clockdown. You can leave MSI Afterburner on the background and logging to file to see if clockdowns do happen (very probable).

Take the back panel off, remove the fan (one screw) and give it a proper clean as dust builds up mostly on the inside edge and may be compressed air proof after this long.

Clean the fan, heatsink, and vent thoroughly using an air compressor for best result.
