I'm going to be rolling over to this brand from HP.
THIS is what I'm going for: MSI Global GT70-2OK Workstation
The BS from HP is going to get worse before it gets better, in wake of Meg Whitmans announcement that HP is splitting into 2 very separate entity's, the unprofitable pc division, and the profitable printer ink division...
LOL....why did I ever think that an ink company could make a reliable pc?

So, I currently don't have a notebook, HP is holding onto it and not sending it back to me, in avoidance of breaking THEIR extended warranty with me.
Yup, their holding onto my IN WARRANTY ENVY 17-3090NR 3D A9P77UA because there is no screen available,,,,,,,,oddly enough I can find them on ebay and amazon....
They offered me a 700 dollar single HDD notebook as a replacement, my ENVY has 1x mSASTA SSD, and 2x SATA HDD's.
Kinda like going from a v12 asphalt burner, to a 4banger puddle jumper.
The reall kicker here is the attitude HP is dishing out to their customers, this broad "Jennifer" asked me what if any notebook was acceptable, I conservatively chose the zBook F1J74UT, its within 10% of the Envy's performance specs, most importantly it configures to the 1x mSATA SSD and 2x SATA HDD's as my ENVY.
She gave no reason for, and just jumped to " return the computer to you unrepaired".

    1 year and 9 months.....$2250.oo MSRP
$190.oo bucks for Extended Warranty from HP.
    Ripped Off or what?!

So, I need to deal with a real computer company, not a printer and ink company that has some notebooks and pc's.
A place with people that have some knowledge and your interest at heart.
A company that has pride, and employees that care.
The BS from HP has gotten intolerable for me.
Last time I had to deal with them it was 6 months to get a replacement!
    HP is dead.

Well with MSI you get a 2 year warranty as standard and a 1 year international warranty. :)

I take it you need the Quadro for your applications?

3100M should do it for me.
What I want is a replaceable video card in a notebook, 2 fans would make me happy.
I wanted a desktop replacement notebook, 3 drives plus a DVD ROM.
I wont mess with RAID, SSD's are fast enough, even so it can create some data bottlenecks.

Are there any configurations or issues I should consider before purchasing, any specs I should look at?

Have you looked at the GT72? You have a dedicated switch for gpu vs igp, two fans and a slot that msi is going out of their way to say is upgradable.

Ya, looks like the GT70 workstation setup, the only difference would be the Quadro GPU?
What I'm having a hard time finding is any service and maintenance/service manuals (pdf's), I really want to know whats under the hood, not just the glossy paint job on the web page.

What exactly are the m2SATA, mSATA, SATA slots available from 1 series to the next (GT70 workstation/GT72gameing) isn't clearly defined, and the resellers don't have a clue, so I'm kinda stuck there.
This has to do with my previous setup, I want to drop in my mSATA SSD (OS), SATA SSD (workflow), SATA HDD(storage) into a unit and startup, abet having to install all new drivers from the DL center.

Any help here with what drive slots are a available, and what the bios supports for boot slots and raid would be helpful.
Service, teardown, repair pdfs are great as well, can someone direct me?

Also, I'm really struggling with the cards, Quadro v GTX....
How important is Memory Buss Width?

"Sorry to hear about your poor experience with HP"

HP is going the way of the dinosaur.
HP was convicted by the USDOJ of bribery, and fined 135 Million dollars.

Hewlett-Packard Russia Agrees to Plead Guilty to Foreign Bribery | OPA | Department of Justice

The Canadian Federal Government has a policy of banning any company convicted of crimes, for 10 years, from doing business with them.
    http://http://www.theglobeandmail.c...ernments-technology-supplier/article20774807/

IF, other commonwealth countries follow suit, New Zealand, Australia, UK (and others) that have similar policy's do the same,,,,
    Whats gunna happen to HP?
Calculators and printer ink? It will get worse before it gets better, or it will fold like Motorola did.

I'm already feeling the pinch from HP here, in Canada, where I live.
Pull up the HP Parts Store for Canada, then the one for the USA for my model of ENVY, try ordering part 665935-001 (top cover with touch pad) and you get this...

    ORDER FROM USA:
hp parts store ca top cover.png

    ORDER FROM CANADA:
hp parts store usa top cover.png
HP will not let me order from and ship to Canada, from the USA Parts Store.
IMHO HP is going to penalize the consumer for my government's policy.

    SO,,,,
    On to MSI,,,,
I like your product, even more so the that dell brand that might compete in the same market.
I just cant bring myself to deal with a company that has its focus spread all over the place, doing lots but no 1 thing well.
