Has anyone ever tried to upgrade the screen on an A5000?

I have an A5000 that I bought from Craigslist that I'm using as a secondary laptop. I'm not a fan of glossy screens, so I was planning to switch the screen to a matte screen, but I figured that, while I was at it, I might as well try upgrading the resolution as well.

I know that people generally advise against upgrading resolutions, but from what I understand, this is usually not a problem for newer LED-backlit systems. LaptopScreen.com/ScreenCountry.com only lists a 1366x768 screen for the A5000, but they list both 1366x768 and 1920x1080 for the CR500, which I understand is the same model as the A5000? (Well, at least the A5000's mobo identifies itself as CR500.) So I think that this will probably work, and I think I'm willing to risk it, but I'm curious: has anyone ever tried this sort of thing, and if so, were you successful?

I know, but I was asking if anyone has ever tried to upgrade the screen resolution to 1920x1080.

(I guess I should've specified resolution in the title for clarification; if I replace a screen with the same resolution, I'd consider that a replacement, but not an upgrade.)

Same as with all other Display Upgrade threads:

    1) best 1080p Matte panel: B156HW01 V.4 ($89.99)
    2) find out whether your LVDS cable is dual channel - if not - order one that is.

    Technical limitation:
Resolutions over 1366 x 768 require dual LVDS cables (for twice the bandwidth - similar to DVI/DVI-D)
If your LVDS cable has all the leads connected - you are good to go
If your LVDS is missing 8 leads - then you need to find a working compatible "FHD" cable (Can't help with cables, sorry)

Thanks! All the pins are present on the screen side of the cable. On the mobo side, all the pins except for four are connected (the specs indicate that two of those pins are supposed to be N/C anyway). So I think my cable is probably fine. I guess there's one way to find out...

Make sure to order the B156HW01 V.4 (Matte),

the colors will be so vivid you won't believe your eyes (97.5% Adobe RGB Gamut)

The only downside - is that every other monitor from that point on will seem bland :(

(Except Apple Cinema, M4600 IPS or Retina)

Hmm. I had already placed my order. :/ Is it that much better than the LTN156HT01 (which is what the matte 1080p screen for the CR500 is, according to a rep earlier today). Hmm. Well, since the order hasn't shipped, I guess I'll cancel it and place a new one...

    It's definitely worth it,
lots of threads around with people's impressions.
LTN156HT01 is pretty standard spec (Just like most TN panels),
    B156HW01 V.4 is outstanding.

Well, for the record, the A5000-025US does have the necessary hardware to support a 1920x1080 screen. Neither the cable nor the connector on the board are crippled, which is a little surprising given how very low-spec'ed (Celeron) and cheap this system is (it was around $300 at one point, according to Slickdeals, and that I managed to pick mine up from Craigslist for just $50).

I upgraded the CPU and RAM with some things from eBay, and now with this B156HW01 V.4 screen (which really is gorgeous), it makes for a nice media consumption PC. Thanks for the help.

I was going to say, if it supports 1600x900 then it will support 1920x1080, you shouldn't have canceled your order.
