Hey everyone, I have a "BLINKING" problem!! My MSI GS70's battery status light started blinking amber a few days ago. From what I read on the user manual, this means the battery has gone bad and I would need to replace it. However, the battery is still working and certainly not dead. It blinks amber whenever the battery is fully charged with or without the adapter plugged-in, and the blinking amber light goes away when the battery level drops from 100%.

When the battery level is at 99%, and I plug in the adapter, it starts charging the battery. I remember the battery doesn't get charged when it's at this level.

I hardly use my laptop on battery, always using with the adapter plugged-in, so I'm very confused!!

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Having the same problem recently. Tried reinstalling back all MSI utilities like SCM n did a batt calibration and the blinking light issue was resolved. Hope it works for you.

Sorry for such a late reply!!

Yup, I sent it back to the MSI repair centre, apparently it was my motherboard that became faulty most likely due to a thunderstorm (plugged in the charger when there was lightning). So they replaced the motherboard and it's all good now!

    Hi Gene,

May I ask how long the repair process took you? Apparently my laptop has a motherboard issue too. It's already at MSI but it seems it's just been sitting around over there for almost 2 weeks now.

Have they updated you recently? Or have you contacted them for an update?

Sometimes they are not the best at sending you updates to let you know your computer is on its way back. That or the update could have been sent to your Spam/Junk folder. I have had customers ask me to check on their RMA status and have the computer arrive at their door that day without seeing any email updates.

The RMA information you got should have included a phone number to call, wont hurt to give them a buzz.

    Hi Hut and Pro,

I wish I would've known this earlier as it only took a DAY for them to replace the motherboard/edp cable and find an issue with the non-OEM SSD so its been sitting around at the reseller's this whole time. I guess better late than never though as it'd continue to remain untouched had I not contacted both companies for updates. So thank you both for your help, I really appreciate it!

Try contacting MSI directly, sometimes they may be able to expedite the process.

Happy to help! It's good that they found it and took care of it. I imagine you're itching to get it back. :D
