My aging gx60 has either an ac adapter fault or the board port is kaput. It has had an intermittent changing problem for a while that has been fixable by wiggling the adapter but now it's given up completely.

What normally goes on these? How easy is it to diagnose and fix?

    Many thanks for any advice

DC jack coming loose is fairly 'normal' with laptops. Since wiggling fixed it before, have it resoldered at some repair shop or diy. It isn't very difficult (or expensive), the main work is getting access to that thing by partially dismantling it, which usually entails removing the motherboard.

Also before you start soldering grab a volt meter and measure the voltage at the tip of the charger plug.
