I stumbled upon someone selling HD4850 mxm modules. Does anyone have the TDP of that card? I assumed it would be around the same as the 9800m GS as ATI mobile card usually draw a bit less power than their NV counterparts... Would the GX620 support a card that puts you between 50 and 70 watts? Or do I need to get a beefier heatsink?

It's around 55-65 watts. Also, you'll need to get the GT627 heatsink and power supply as well.

And if you don't mind me asking, who's selling them?

    I second that!

    Who's selling them? haha

Your efforts with installing the ati card should be quite sucessfull, if not, maybe you can play with modding copper sheets for the heat sink.

http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/105818249/ATI_HD_4650_M96_M_HD.html. I'm not sure how secure that is and as far as I know the hd4850 is not available in MXM-II format but then descriptions error are pretty common with chinese sellers...

When you say GT627 power supply do you mean the power brick or the whole internal power supply circuit. If it's the later, isn't that part of the motherboard?

Just the brick. The GX620 and the GT627 use the same motherboard. Only difference would be the BIOS version, which are cross compatible from what we've seen here.

Hmm, i wonder if ati ever did an mxm 2 module for the 4850 card?
It should be mxm 3 as far as im aware.

Clevo had a mxm 2.1 for gtx 260 if i recall, but only for short period of time.

Just had a chat with the guy last night. He doesn't have any in stock atm. The highest card atm is a 9500m. Tried to ask how much he sells the 4850's but he takes 10 years to reply ><
