    Hello Everybody
I think there is not enough "holes" for cooling so I'm thinking about modding my gx640 and maybe drill some. I am also thinking about making a new back cover in aluminium, that would increse dissipation and I would not have to mod the plastic cover (I am a bit afraid of broking it)

I have already see in this forum somebody who already drill his but I can't find the post ... So please can somebody who mod his gx640 send some pictures and share his opinions and conclusions about it ?

I just received an extra GX640 bottom panel.

I put holes in it by the fan and a row of holes by the CPU/northbridge. Reduced my temps by 5 degrees at idle/low load. Prob even more once I get back to my apartment on sunday where my cooler is.

I didn't want to drill too many because I still need to take this thing with me to class everyday.

I thought about making out of aluminum but I looked at the bottom and it's a very unique shape. If you manage to make one out of a mold or something I'll be more than happy to buy one off you.

Unfortunately i think I'm one of the only people in the world who doesn't have a digital camera. Friends of mine always bring a camera so I never bothered to buy one.

You guys can check the GX740 thread to have a look at what I've done to the bottom cover of my MS-1727. Maybe it's not exactly the same, but it will give You some ideas about what You can achieve.

Noone will list the bottom panel in inventory cause obviously demand is minuscule so it needs to be custom ordered from MSI.

Shoot Ken Lee an email and he'll take care of you

Have to agree, that "pro's" work looks actually quite poor lol, theres definately no need for that amount of plastic ripped out lol.

Did he go out and buy the tool to do this or something? Cause for one job its dumb to just run out and get a tool... But at least when your done you still have it and hopefully will use it again.

I don't know if you'd call this a mod but I lost one of the rubber feet today (stupid me, should've went out and got super glue earlier). I took the eraser off a lead pencil and cut it down til the height was right, then super glued it on. Works just fine

    It's an excellent eraser :p

If i paint it black it might even function better than the rubber foot and cause less screeching if i ever try to slide the laptop
