I've been having issues with my gt72 frame dropping badly. Now I noticed that my laptop will be plugged in and it switches between full power to acting like it's not.plugged in. Is this a common issue? Also when I unplugged the cord from the back of the computer, the silver part was mighty hot.

Sounds like your power jack might be damaged. You should setup RMA.

What charge level was it at? We have seen GT72's stop charging when over 90% charge. I would also update your bios/EC as we have seen that fix some issues with charging as well

Can you check the AC adapter's power cord connectivity? Make sure it is securely attached, also please observe the power light on the adapter because it might have issues where it cannot handle such load no more. This is considered defective if it's the culprit.

EC stands for embedded controller.. The instructions to update bios can be found on the MSI website.

You can find out in the BIOS Setup, and those info is under System Information.
EC manages power, fan/thermal, and touch sensor buttons.
