It's funny the Vram being listed as 4GB.

That could be right considering the GT60 with 970M got 3GB versions instead of 6GB.

Would the 4GB be enough for a 4k display?

It should be fine. The GS60 Ghost Pro 4K versions use the 970M 3GB and we havent heard of any issues.

There is no way how to disable NOS in the 16F4 notebooks ? So that you guys can use a much better AC adapter (240 or 330watts)?

The specs listed for the GPU memory appear to unfortunately be correct. The drivers/download page is active for this model:

MSI Global - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Motherboard, Graphics and more

Under the "Firmware" section, there is a vBios that you can download. When you click on it, the file name reads: N16E_GX_ 4GB_84.04.22.00.0B

I guess one cool thing to add is you can select Windows 7 when selecting the OS for the downloads.

EDIT: The more I think about this, the more I am confused. They released a 3K 880M model with 8GB of memory. Now they release a 4K 980M model, but lower the memory to 4GB? That does not make sense?
The only thing I can think of is perhaps the GPU is soldered on this model? I've heard a few people mention around here that the 4GB variants of the 980m are soldered.

I'm surprised MSi has continued to produced GT60s and GT70s considering the cooling solution in them without turbo boost is absolutely terrible. CPUs reaching mid to high 90s and GPUs reaching high 80s low 90s should be an immediate turn-off and I would be surprised if people didn't gravitate more to the GS series which has far better cooling and thinner profiles.

Then again, my GT60 has been running at high 90s since January and it hasn't shown any performance degradation...ever lol.

NOS can be disabled but it has to be done to the EC directly. Its the EC firmware that controls how much power the CPU and GPU both draw at the same time. Up till now no one has ever released an unlocked EC for Haswell SKUs (sadly I don't think they will). The card is mxm, has 4GB of VRAM and uses a lower peak power ceiling, just like the 2QD model with the 970m. My GT60 has been running fine too along those temps (apart from the 20% wear on the battery :()

I would assume the heat profile will be like the GT60 with the 780m or 880m but you get more GPU processing for the same heat. So theoretically, and speculatively, unless you up the resolution or the details it should cooler for the same performance.

That is to say, they design the insides up to the maximum heat the chassie can take.

You can improve the heat a lot yourself if you want to tweak of course :)
