Seem to be having an issue with the battery. I can have it at 100% charged but overnight it seems to lose at least 10% charge with it being completely off. I tried letting it get down to 50% and then a full charge but it did not help. Would completely draining it and then a full charge help anything or do I have a bad battery?

I had an asus g7jw that did not have a battery problem like this though.

    Hey Hennessy...

I have a similar problem with my brand new (2 weeks old) GT683DX. Out of the box, mine will only charge to 92% and once there the blue battery light under the mouse pad blinks ALL THE TIME. I heard from another forum member that he had a similar issue to mine and it eventually got to the point where the battery won't hold a charge at all.
Though you have different symptoms, it seems there may be a battery issue with these units.
I spoke with Xotic about doing a return but the $50 it was gonna cost out of pocket to return it via UPS with $1600 in insurance seemed like a bad idea.
I will be sending my unit to MSI on Monday for a warranty repair...hope they don't screw it up. Other than the battery the unit is perfect!!!

    Good luck!!!

So would it be just a battery issue because like yours mine is brand new. I don't want to send back the whole machine if it is just the battery. I use this for work related purposes.

I would think so, but I tried that route, I asked Xotic to just send me a battery to test and they said they couldn't do that.
It's a PITA for sure...but the tech said there may be an issue with the MoBo or the power supply so it would be better to send it all back for them to test everything. I figure to keep my warranty in good standing I'll let them work on it. If they screw it up it's their dime. To be safe I am taking a boat load of photos of my rig before it goes out the door.

Well if you can keep my updated on how it goes. For now I guess I will just remove the battery when I don't need it.

It isn't just Xotic's policy, it is also MSI's for warranty repair/replacement.

    Hey Hennessy..

Just an update on that battery issue we both were having...
Well, I got my GT683DX back from MSI today and it turns out the battery was bad, keep in mind, mine was brand new out of the box and it had an issue. So either Xotic sold me a "returned unit" as new or they have battery issues from the factory.

Mine now charges to 100% and the light under the track pad turns off once it's charged.

    Good luck.

Try turning off i-Charger from the BIOS settings.

My battery will completely discharge in a couple days if I leave it in. I would think that is a defective battery? I can fully charge it but a 20min ride to work with it and I'll be down to 90%.
