So I'm looking to get a gs43vr, but all of the msi laptops I test in store do not seem to do the Windows 10 multi gestures like all the other laptops, including my Alienware.

Mainly the three finger swipe up to reveal all open programs, etc.

Is something not on or do msi synaptic touchpads not do these gestures? Do you need a precision touchpad like those in Alienware?

Not sure if you still need the help, but since I saw this post was never answered I figured I would give you some feedback. I have owned a Surface Book and a Dell XPS 15 which both supported the multi finger swipe gestures, I can also confirm the Lenovo X1 and HP ZBook 15 G3 support these features.

However, the MSI GS43VR I recently tested did not have it and it could not be configured in the ELAN touchpad settings. It does have some customization and other gestures like pinch to zoom and three finger TAP, BUT it does not support the three finger swipes up or down. I believe in order to have that function it needs to be a microsoft certified precision trackpad or have custom support within the touchpad driver. In Microsoft's own words: "You’ll need a precision touchpad to use them all—otherwise, experiment to see which ones work on your PC."

    Hope this helps!

I think the touchpad just doesn't do a lot of functions. Thankfully, it does two-fingered scrolling perfectly, which is the only function I use regularly.
