So im looking to buy a new MSI gaming laptop, I did get a GP62MVR and the screen is really bad so im returning it.

Is the GE62VR has a better screen? or which model has a good/great panel?

    Thanks

I know it's in a different league but the 120Hz screen on the GT73VR, and other laptops I think, and I can never go to a lesser screen, It's a pleasure to look at. l

The panels in the GE62VR and GT62VR are a lot better. The GE supports Optimus while the GT supports G-Sync.

The MSI GT62VR is the high end model with the 1080p Full HD, IPS panel w/ G-Sync. It' thick, meaning the temperatures are the lowest you'll see in a 15" laptop. The display should definitely be better than the models announced many years ago. You won't feel that much of a difference in terms of color accuracy and contrast, but G-Sync is a great addition for games. The pascal laptops make a hell of a difference as well!

Yes, the GE62 uses a close panel in terms of color gamut. Only, it's a thinner, Optimus laptop which tends to get slightly hotter than its thicker equivalent. Optimus enabled means G-Sync is absent.

But it is a bright panel and nice looking color? unlike the GP series that i did return today? the purple color was so ugly.

The panel in the MSI GP is a low quality IPS panel with not so-great viewing angles and color accuracy. Otherwise, how would you explain a massive price drop (From GE and GT to GP and GL) to around 1100$ in a GTX 1060 laptop, knowing most competitors with a great build quality cost over 1400?

True, I will buy a GE laptop like my old one, hoping the monitor is great :)

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, the monitor will be great, but don't expect amazingly low temps. They get on the 80's and the fans can be too audible. Good luck!

The bigger chassis means the cooling solution is thicker, allowing for better airflow and bigger fan blades. The cooling in the GT series is top notch, and the machine is quiet. The thinner the machine, the louder and hotter it gets!

heres both side by side, the GE has a bigger SSD (256 vs 128) and is physically smaller but 12gb ram (vs 16 for the GT),

Anything else im missing? I will move this machine in its box every day 4 days a week to work. weight and size might do a difference.

The GT62VR is more suitable for gamers and enthusiasts, mainly because it has G-Sync (smoothens the gameplay when the FPS is below the refresh rate), and because the GTX 1060 comes in an MXM 3.0b format, which means it is removable and replacable. This does not have Optimus, which means the Intel HD630 is disabled.

The GE62VR however is more like a daily driver and a gamer on the go. It has Optimus, allowing to switch to the Intel iGPU when the workload is minimal, which means G-Sync cannot be present.
The GPU is however soldered in this unit. If it dies, you're doomed!

The difference in weight between both laptops is around 500grams (2.4 kg
for the GE62, 2.9kg for the GT62). Both are "reasonably" weighted for a 15" gaming machine.

It's up to you. If I were in your shoes, I' immediately pick the GT62VR for the MXM GPU and G-Sync. Those are never a formality for this price range!

Oh, I forgot to mention the battery in the GT62VR is bigger. Even with Optimus disabled, it still manages an extra 30-45 minutes compared to the GE62VR's smaller battery.
The reviews usually favor the GT62VR because it's the "better" gaming machine, and mainly because it stays extremely cool even under load!

Yeah but the temp isnt that much a problem, my old GE60 gets really hot and i dont mind it, on the other hand the noise might help the GT against the GE.

I would prefer a quieter machine under load.
