Hello I am new to gaming computers so I know almost nothing about them. I have been doing research and I do want to buy the MSI GT60 Dominator 424. I am thinking of ordering from Amazon or XOTIC PC. I would prefer to order from xotic pc due to me being able to customize the computer a bit. Before I order I have a couple questions. Is Xotic PC a reputable business? I see they offer a cash discount but you must send a check, money order or bank wire transfer which for me throws up a big red flag. Why wouldnt they just give new customers that 3% discount to get their business? Any feedback on them would be great.

Like I said I want the GT60 Dominator 424 and would prefer to order from xpc and change a couple things. The first option I did while building it on their site was opted for the 4x4gb ram. Whats the difference between 4x4gb and 2x8gb? Is one better than the other?

Next I changed the optical drive to a 6x blu ray burner + 8x dvdrw/cdrw super multi combo drive. With this I can burn Blu Rays and regular dvds correct? Also with this can I watch blu ray and dvd on the computer?

Lastly I added to have them remove the bloatware for $15 is this a good choice? Are there anything else that I should add? The biggest question I almost forgot to ask is how long will it take them to build this? Im not using this for hardcore FPS I use my X1 and PS4 for that. Thank you all for your help!

Go 2x8gb since all mobile cpus are dual channel so see no performance improvement past 2 sticks (unless you need the extra space).

Yes the Bluray writer combo writes dvds too.

MSI are light on the bloat, but it's a personal choice.

Not sure on their build time, seems to vary from machine type and changes requested, but for a customized route they are a good option. Can't beat Amazon for speed on a stock machine, but if you aren't in a big hurry a reseller is a good option.

As far as their 3% for cash discount, it's just because they have to pay a fee when you use a credit card, and with cash they do not, so they pass it along to you.... most of the resellers offer this same discount. Nothing sketchy going on

As far as the GT60, great machine, enjoy!

Are there any other upgrades that I should do to it? I see they offer SSD but again not sure what that is for the most part.

SSD or solid state drives use nand chips rather than a mechanical spinning platter (Normal HDD) so are much quicker, they are better than a HDD in every way except cost (the big reason why HDDs are still around) for the most part.

Depends on your budget, find which ones fit and then look up reviews on them.

Sounds like most of your questions have been answered except the build time which is currently 7-12 business days for customized models.
For SSD the Samsung 840 Evo have been our most popular as they are considered one of the best for bang for you buck.

The EVOs really are good drives. Their performance (and projected lifespan) falls shy of the 840 Pro, but the Pro is roughly 30% - 40% more expensive.
