Hello. I've got a problem while installing Alienware GTX 765M into the MSI laptops, currently in GX780, but the issue was identical in GX740. It's freezes on MSI logo and after that nothing happens, and the issue persists. Anyone has any ideas?

Did you try another VBios? And isn‘t the GX780 equipped with a GT 555M which is soldered on the Mainboard?

I have tried a different vBIOS on GX740, tried MSI, CLEVO, the results were always the same. I've installed an unlocked BIOS, swapped the microcode to the newest one, still nothing.
The laptop may be the GT780, I'm not fully familiar with MSI naming scheme ;)

Aha. So gt780 is not compatible with GTX 765M. And it is also not compatible with Alienware cards. The only card which will work is GTX 770M. And I heard maybe 970/980m will work.

We'll, not really, since from what I've found this system was sold with 765M. It may be true for Dell/Alienware distribution, but from what I've seen there are issues with cards with SLI/Crossfire support (the sockets seem to cause problems by mere existence). Any other hints?

No, also Clevocards with SLI-Connector are working fine. Where did you find a gt780 with a 765m?

There are plenty of posts around Polish MSI forum concerning the 780 with GTX 765M. What I've just found however was the story of how a guy flashed 765M with 770M vBIOS and it worked! I'll have to try it
