I think the GX660 has better cooling and better audio.
Most of the other specs are the same, I would go for the 660.

Ha yeah I'm stuck with a similar decision too, the GX660 does cool a lot better, but i'm really loving the concept of a 16:10 17" with 1680 x1050. I don't really plan to watch movies on it, and the lower native res helps with future game fps.

The res on the 17" is quite suitable.

IMO FHD on 15.6 makes for unreadable text and worse FPS.

If you like the 15.6 form factor though, get the GX660.

The cooling is better but won't really make much of a difference since the neither of the temps are dangerous;both are within acceptable limits.

I would prefer the GX660 myself, if I had to choose between the two.

But since the GX660 is 1280$, why not save another 175$ and get the one in my sig? (It's 1455$ after 3% cashback through GenTech + it has 6g of ram on stock).

If I had to choose I'd get the 660, better cooling, better features.

    That GX660 is not FHD

    GX660-053US = 1366 x 768
    GX740-235US = 1680 x 1050

So if your looking for lower resolution + better cooling + Sound go for the GX660

If you do want Full HD need to select a different model.

IMO FHD on the 15.6 does seem quite small at first, but after a few weeks of using it you become adjusted. If you have need for larger text most browsers will remember your settings and can always enlarge the pages with simple ctrl + or -
