    Hey guys,

I just got a pair of 1600Mhz Dual Channel 2x8GB ram for my GX740.

Computer boats all the way to windows menu of Repair / Normal boot any attempt to boot windows it just restarts automatically. If I do safe mode or normal mode.

I have the unlocked bios for the GX740 and it detected my 16GB but shows it as 1067Mhz and there are no options to change speed or timings.

I cant boot it with just one stick because there dual channel, I wouldnt mind if it downclocked to 1333Mhz because ill be using this ram in another computer in the future. So I'm not sure if I should just go and return the RAM or what I got 13 days left to return them.

    Cheers guys!

How much memory and which speeds does the i5 430M memory controller support?

I see you've solved my problem, sadly it only supports 8GB 1066 life for me. Guess ill go return this save myself 130$ and put it towards a GT780DX-406US

Have you looked into a GT70 instead of a GT780DX?

You can always upgrade Your CPU to i7 (1st gen) quadcore, whose IMC supports 16GB of RAM.

Yeah but I can sell my GX740 for 900$ and then 600 more for a 780DX which would come with a small GPU upgrade to 570M GX and 2nd gen i7 and 12GB of ram so I think ill just wait for that.

Ill look into the GT70 but im still a few months away from getting a new laptop so ill do my research once its time, and of course ask all your guys on the forums.
