Isn't this supposed to be a dedicated card? It doesn't look like that in a couple pics that I've seen (I don't wanna open it) Can somebody direct me to technical images with labels of what's what?
Also, I am not understanding how the fan works. Both big vents on the back and the right side are exhaust? And the inlet is the tiny grid at the bottom? Is that correct?
It seems that whether I plug in my USB cooling pad or not makes no difference in the GPU temperature. May be I am disrupting the airflow. Am I better off not using a cooling pad?

From the image it looks like a GPU chip on the mobo. I thought this had a dedicated card.

The card is mxm 3.0:
MXM technical v3.0
That image is of a Gx720 (with an mxm 2.1 slot). -

Yes it can, the ati 6000 series should be comming soon.
(for nvidia cards you might need to mod the heatsink). -
The GX640 has the MXM 3.0 B. Is that the same in the GX740?
-

Must be, since the 5870 doesn't come as type A cards AFAIK.

The image is from the 720 as stated, the red circles were approximates i was using to help people out, although i think the cpu/nb (Lower circle is further left.)
Should have lots of availability with upgradability for future reference, just got to make sure the coolings up to it, and if need be custom mod the HS. COVER IT IN RAM SINKS ! -

There was a real photo of the GX740 in the owners lounge, but it isn't up anymore. Someone needs to re-upload it.
I mean this thread:

Can anyone tell me if a dual fan cooling pad a good idea for this laptop or will it just make the built-in fan less efficient? Because I see almost no change (Played CoD4 at Max with and without cooling pad for couple hours).
Can anyone post Temp readings from their experiments? -
I got a Zalman NC2000, and it doesn't really seem to make a difference.

So let the air come in
Cover Mod -

That is a great mod.

Thx
And, of course, let the air move

Thats really cool.
You should look into more active heatsinks to force the air...
I have always wanted to use one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/DELL-Inspiron-B...ltDomain_0&hash=item255d538b64#ht_3741wt_1245 (for 20 watt TDP) but clevo heatsink design does not allow for it as well as msi. they are about 6.5x4cm -
Is there any place where I can buy it? haha
-
-
As for the extreme fan mode, are there any "how to" written down to build it? -
The cover mod looks awesome.
