    Hi,

I recently received my GX740 I7 720M from ncix. The laptop runs good except a rare BSOD that seems to occur during gaming. It's happened once during Starcraft 2, once in World of Warcraft and another time when I was asleep with a movie playing, frequency is about once a day. The only modifications I have made is deleting some bloatware and flashing vbios to lower temperature. Also the crash happens before and after updating HD5870 drivers to ATI's newest drivers. Here are the whocrashed and window's recovery dump files.

On Mon 9/6/2010 2:30:32 AM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe

    company: Microsoft Corporation
    description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect, possibly the culprit is in another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

Try running memtest86 and see if it comes back with any errors. Download and burn an .iso to CD or create a bootable USB drive.

So far 5 passes of memtest86 without errors. Is it possible it's a graphics drivers error since it only
Occurs during video intensive usage? I will try to reinstall hd5870 drivers once memtest is at 8 passes

Mine crashed once after I uninstalled the ATI driver.

    Nothing out of the blue.

Update. Called up MSI tech. They told me I have to update VGA drivers AFTER flashing the vBios. So far there hasn't been a crash but it's a pretty rare bsod so I will post more if it happens again.
