As some of you know I put a 3870 in my GX720 and its working great. What a diffrence from the 9600m GT. I am posting some screen shots and a benchmark. I will post some gaming benchmarks too.

Here is crysis 1280 x 1024 64 bit DX10 on high and some other benchmarks, I did not have the graphics card overclocked, I only had the 20% turbo on.

Nice score. Must you give me more ideas lol. On a side note I was playing with rivatuner last night. Stock 9600 06 score 5525. I began overclocking, all the way up to 625/1500/1000, score 5519? Verified overclock settings via hardware monitor. /shrug

So is this the alienware? If so what was the issue you were having to get it to work?

It was not making connection right. Works great now and runs at full clocks.

The heatsink works great. The 3870 is powerful. I installed crysis and can play on high with no lag. almost 10,000 on 3dmark06 with no oc is great.

cobra, do me a favor, upgrade to a quad.

I want to know if the 3870 will work along side a quad. you can get them pretty cheap on ebay.

    I 99% doubt you got 11900 and 12000 + scores on 1280 x 1024 with a single 3870. I haven't seen a single 4850 get those scores. Those scores are more like crossfire 3870 scores.

    i have, i've seen 4850 hit 14k lol.

Bear in the mind if i recall the 38 serie has a complete revamp architecture, very different to the standard.

what no, the m17 with 3870 has hit 16k with dual 3870,

These are done at the correct res, if he haad toned it down he would loose points as the CPU would have to work harder.

x9100 is dual, and gets topped by even the lowest quad, the p8600 could get clocked crazy, but either way barely anyone runs benchmarks at the stock speeds anymore.

And bear in mind that the m17 could barely run quads due to northbridge output heat being too high.

The 3870 are definately capable, and even at lower res, you'l get the same score. (ive run both 800 and 1200 runs on the 4850, there pretty much exact.)

What we need is clocks and information from GPUZ on both of them, he is obtaining crazy scores, but i do know the AW ones are there own, conneciton, clocks, drivers the lot.

    SECONDED!!

    ITs pointless to predict marks!!

    LOL

I still dont know why ATI went back to older arcitecture, the design behind the 38 series looked great.
