Hello looking at buying this laptop to replace my current one (powerbook G4). I would be doing a mix of gaming of SC2 and Diablo 3, VMWare/Programming, Web Browsing, and looking to see if it is capable of being a HTPC as well. Is it possible to have game video/audio go through the laptop monitor & speakers and then have hulu/netflix/blueray go through hdmi to the TV with audio simultaneously?
If this isn't possible does another laptop do this or do I have to do it through a desktop pc?
Thanks

Im sure it does, because the GX640 can.
I can play SC2 maxed-out, even without any overclocking np. (i5 and ati 5850 @ 625/1000)

I can also play bluray movies from my GX640 to the HDTV with sound.(hdmi)
I think if the GX640 can, the GX660R can -
Thanks for the reply. Are you able to do this simultaneously? I clarified my original post because it wasn't clear.

Ya, video and audio through the hdmi works! (at the same time)
-
Cool so you can have game audio going through the laptop speakers and then a different audio going through the hdmi at the same time? If so I'm going to be buying this computer next week
.

I don't think g4m3r1337 is understanding your question correctly...
As far as I know you can't have different sound sources without some expensive sound card to process it. -
ya the answer is definatly no. I dont even think there's even a laptop that can do that.
lololol
ps
"Ya, video and audio through the hdmi works!" (audio from the movie/video) -
Well that kind of sucks. Thanks guys for the replies.

lol you're never gonna believe this but...
IT'S ACTUALLY SUPPORTED!
Go to your Realtek audio manager, go to Device Advanced Settings, then choose "Have external and internal output devices stream two different audio sources simultaneously, or something like that".
Then click okay, and you'll have a second HD Audio tab, in addition to your speakers!
That's incredible, lol!

I'm confused now
. Was browsing around and keep seeing conflicting information. I think I'm going to post this question in the GX660R forum and see if someone in there can test it out.
Thanks for the replies guys. -
Just ask them to open up the Realtek thing and then see if has that option.

Thanks I've posted a reply and will see what they say. Saw something on a Windows 7 forum saying people have been having problems, don't think I saw a solution though. Hopefully someone in the forum will reply.
Output to more than one audio device simultaneously - Windows 7 Taskforce -
So from what I've been reading it looks like if you have two different sounds cards or one sound card that supports 2 channels you should be able to stream 2 different audio sources if the application software allows you to choose which one to output too. VLC looks to be have this option while WMC does not. It also looks like the 5870 has an integrated sound card in it so two should show up under Windows 7.

I've always wondered about this myself. It's sounds like it's possible but please let me (us) know if you found someone to actually test it.

Will do. I'm going to give it another day or two in the "Ryzeki's MSI GX660R Review" section and see if someone answers, if not I'll move the question to the new GX660R Owners Lounge.

Voodooi take a look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/msi/515624-ryzekis-msi-gx660r-review-28.html
It looks like the GX660R does support this.
