I know for the CPU, you want to apply a thin even layer, and that would get the job done.

My question is the GPU. Would a thin even layer be too thin? Do I have to go a alittle heavier? I heard people talking about copper shims so that led me to believe that thermal paste alone wont seal the gap.

    What you think?

I have found a thin layer works well on the notebooks.

The best method will vary due to the differences in notebook heatsinks and the much lower pressures compared to desktops.
