Hey there guys, my 5870m just died..and a friend of mine provided me with his spare GTX460m. I got it installed fine, games fine, etc.. All except that the fn+ up/down doesn't change the screen brightness any longer. even windows+x or the power sliders in power options doesn't work. I believe my screen is stuck at 50% brightness.
Any insight?
Thanks.

Try flashing the vbios from an MSI GTX460m onto your GTX460m.
I think the MSI GT663 came with a 460m, so if you can find the vbios from that then it may help.
I would also download SCM for the GT663 (actually it uses the same SCM as the GT680) and install that on your GT660.
I would try SCM first, then the vbios. -
Tried the GT680's SCM, i could only adjust the brightness when the windows logo is loading. When I reboot, i'm back to no control. Hmm. I'm rather hesitant of bios flashing this card atm. -

What graphics driver are you using? the latest one?
Is there any ATI software still installed?
I would remove that (and any other traces of ATI). -
I uninstalled all traces of ATI drivers, used driver sweeper as well.
I'm using the 270.28 drivers with a custom inf, the most recent one won't accept my GTX460m.. -

Something makes me think it's a graphics driver problem.

Ohh, I think it's because i'm using laptopvideo2go drivers...
Can you link me to a more updated version ?
tried the latest one from nvidia and it still doesn't work.. -

That 460m you have, did it come from a dell/alienware?
If it did, then maybe try the driver from dells website. -
I am pretty sure it is a VBIOS issue, if the card is not a MSI card the brightness controls would not likely work.

If you can change brightness during POST and/or BIOS but not in windows, it's a driver problem.
I had those with my previous laptop and some driver releases.
GX660 + 460m = no screen brightness
