    Hi.

I reinstalled win7 x64 four months ago - but obviously I did something wrong.
Every time a new Windows update came out I couldn't boot. I fixed this by starting the computer in safe mode and using system restore.
That worked out just fine until last week, this seems to be another problem.

When I try to boot it gets stuck at the windows 7 loading screen with the Windows logo blinking like usual loading. Tried leaving it on for 30 minutes, nothing happened.
Safe mode gets to the loading windows files part and freezes there.

So today I borrowed my friends external drive and found my win7 installation disk..
First I attempted to use the system recovery cd, but that thing went on to the loading screen then freezed just like the OS boot.
    Same thing with installation disk.

I tried using hirens boot cd to launch XP mini.
I got into the DOS(?) menu of the cd, but when I launched XP mini, it freezed at loading screen like the others.

What causes this problem and how could I fix it?

    Thanks!

Reformat the entire drive and reinstall Windows.

The boot CDs should work whatever state my drive is in`?

Just to clarify, I've changed the boot order and stuff.

    ::
    Ram sticks:
Could possibly both fail at once? I don't know how they work, if one or them are the primary stick or whatever. I tried swapping them, still same problem.

Hard disk works just fine connected to my other computer as slave.

Got some of the boot cd programs to work --
    Mem86,
    Windows Memory Diagnostics
    HDDUM SMART viewer
    Seagate SeaTools
    All passed.

So nothing is wrong with my RAM or hard drive?

I'll transfer the data with the other computer tomorrow and use a nuke tool on my disk. We'll see if the setup pops up after that..
