Seems like on XoticPC's site, the picture for the GX640 is simply the picture of the GT627 (if you hover your mouse over it, it says GT627).
Do you guys figure that they used the same GT627 chassis for the GX640 and only changed the insides? I hear that the keyboard flexing problem on the GT627 is rather horrendous, and the touchpad turns from matte to shiny in a matter of days.

The keyboard flex was solved on late GT627 models I believe... and yes, it is basically the same chassis. Otherwise they wouldn't be offering 16:10 screens.

I think it's a minute tweak to the previous gen model. And 16:10 rocks!

So you could upgrade a GT627 to a GX640 by changing the motherboard?
    That would be cool.

You'd have to upgrade the screen from 1280x800 to 1680x1050 for it to really be a GX640, though.

Moral, you most likely could yes, although there are some chipset changes i believe? it could require a new HS too.

That's good news for me :D

If I see a cheap motherboard on ebay, I'll probably have to try it.
Though i7 CPUs are not cheap.
