Three problems i'm having with my new gx640:

1.) There's an issue im having where theres a spot on the LCD that wobbles (the liquid underneath is moving)
It's only when i move the lid or shake the laptop at all that its noticeable.
At certain angles the color in that spot looks a bit different.
Any fixes or should I RMA?

2.) I'm trying to set up an extended display to my 1080p monitor (through HDMI).
I can get it duplicated and the resolution takes up the whole screen but doesn't look like 1080p quality/res.
However if I set it as extended there are black bars everywhere even though this laptop reports that the monitor is at 1080p res. Any ideas? I really need this to work.

3.) When I have the drivers/version of CCC on MSi's website I can overclock just fine up to 775/1005. No artifacting or strangeness (btw i updated to the latest vbios from msi's website)
However when I try to update to the latest from amd's website (11.2) it works but if i overclock anything higher than stock I get weird glitches that are worse when i move windows around!

    Thanks for any help!

    1) Sounds like something is caught under there, you have a faulty screen, sounds like an RMA to me

    2) you might have issues with an extended desktop because the GX640 is 16:10 and not 16:9 which is the aspect ratio of 1920x1080

    3) Sometimes new drivers do more bad than good

Thanks. Yeah ill try and RMA it.

It should still work because with extended displays you dont need to have the same resolution.
I'm sure it can be done. I tried unplugging it to clear the memory and thats how i got it to show full screen while cloning but not the same luck for extending.

I managed to fix it by upgrading the mainboard bios.
    Who'da thought.

Agreed with NEM -- given all of your other issues, it sounds like you generally have a lemon.

It works flawlessly apart from the HDMI resolution.
Has anyone gotten theirs outputting 1080?

When I tried to connect to my 1080 TV through HDMI, at first it was a pain to get the correct resolution. However, later on I found a setting in CCC Display Manager. Cannot remember the exact option no, but it was something like "Use the panel's default resolution" or something like this. And that was it - 1680x1050 on notebook monitor / 1920x1080 on TV.

If its duplicated, then the monitor not gonna be at 1080p. Because your internal lcd just can't go that high. You should extend the desktop or use only the external monitor.

Yet the LCD monitor shows the "part" of the 1080p screen. This means, that the view is scrollable on notebooks screen. Already had it few years ago when I connected 23" CRT with some enormous resolution to my 1680x1050 LG S1 notebook. Notebook screen just shors part of the full image and bigger monitor/TV shows full view.
