I would but my results wouldn't help you as my processor's power consumption wouldnt reflect that of an i5

Also remember that battery life degrades over time in a somewhat linear fashion as battery cycles are expended.

In my experience 3 hours today might mean 2 hours in 18 months.

This is somewhat anecdotal, but I think it's true across the board.

im just planning to use this laptop for school/light gaming, so just tryin to see if the batt life is sufficient for a 2-3hours lecture. 3 hours sounds more than enough.

I haven't seen an actual test yet, but win 7 reports it as about two and a half hours.

I made a test yesterday night with downclocked GPU, wireless off, minimal screen brightness. When I'll be home after work, I think I'll be able to post results (ran battery eater test with logging so I went sleep and battery eater made me a note :) )
It should be something about 3 hours, or a little bit more.

That kinda kills how meaningful the test is if u turn off the wireless and don't use it for anything don't you think?

Well it can be used as a point of reference.
That said, if using the computer in school as for only taking notes, wifi doesn't need to be enabled. Taking notes won't drain the battery significantly, except for maybe when starting your prefered application (be it the windows office package or openoffice).

Well, 2 hours 45 minutes with minimal brightness/wireless off/downclocked gpu.

Not very impressive as of 9 cell battery.

Damn. That is indeed quite disappointing. What was the downclock speed?
    Was it just idling?

    Downclock was ridiculous: 50/75 :)
And yes, in power scheme I chose not to turn off the screen and started battery eater's reading test and went to sleep, next day I harvested results.

Hmm, I wonder about Battery Eater's reading test, though. I'd like to have some comparison points to go by.
