Max possible CPU could be a quad core processor, Qx9300 @ 2.53Ghz (~£500).
    A cheaper option would be the "half-legal" Qx9200 ES @ 2.4Ghz (~$250)

    Qx9200
    Qx9200

Other options would be almost all processors that fit Socket P.
    List of Socket P Processors

P.S You dont need a service manual for this, its darn easy, just remove the back cover and unscrew the heatsink over the processor, remove the processor, chip in the new one, put on some thermal paste and put the heatsink back , then the back cover, then voila, upgrade done :)

GX623 might not support quads. Some people tried with the GX620 and it didn't work for them.

I guess it depends on the motherboard revision.

You will find good guides here:

I think the GX620 is the same, just a different GPU.

If quads don't work, the best CPU would be an X9100, second best would be a T9900.

What about Turbo button when you changed cpu? On P7350 when you press it cpu oc from 2ghz to 2.3ghz, how it forks on P8600? And what your Windows 7 experience index cpu?

Turbo will works well. The multiplier depends on the cpu, as I know. The P-series overclocks better than the T-series. I've got a T6600: 2.2GHz->2.53GHz one of my friend have a P8600: 2.4GHz-2.9GHz.

When I use my T6600 with the turbo the temps raised only 2-4*C. With the quad the turbo isn't working, but the heat is really a problem now. (Especially here, in Croatia) At home its a little bit better, but the quad is too much for this system in such a warm summer. Maybe I'll swap back to a Core2Duo For example the T9900 os X9100...

The overclock depends of the BIOS (and the settings in there). Your friend probably has the A1651IMS_10S BIOS. That one does a 20% overclock. The one you have right now does a 16% OC.

With the A1651IMS_10S BIOS your T6600 CPU will reach ~ 2.63 GHz.

Put in the cpu, detach the power chord and the battery, then hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. Then attach the cable and turn it on.
