    GX620-001US P8400, CPU-Z reports core speed 1,590MHZ ?

    Core-Z is reporting my core speed 1.5GHZ and with turbo on its up to 1.9GHZ

    for a split second if i dont blink, core-z gets up to 2.xx ghz.

    Your CPU is downclocking in order to keep the heat and power consumption down. Run something intensive in the background and watch the clock speed ramp up.

    so this is normal when there is little activity on the laptop?

    Yes, no point of it running at maximum speed all the time when it's not needed.

    That makes sense.

    and you are right. i had CPU-Z open and turned on the windows experience index rating thingy that runs the tests, and it bumped up to 2.6GHZ in TURBO mode .

    Also be sure to run your laptop on high performance as powersaver down clocks too.

    Seems normal though, my Advent 6555(MSI 1722) downclocks itself to 1.5ghz to save power and runs at 2Ghz
