yea works fine, im not sure of the changes myself but windows did reinstall some devices upon startup.

I believe when you restart the machine, it no longer "shuts down" before booting up the bios again. I cant be sure since i dont remember for certain how it was before i applied the bios update.

What is the best way to create a bootable USB in Vista?

HP's USB Disk Storage Format Tool is your best friend. Choose the option to create a DOS Startup disk, and select 'Using System Files located at:'.

Download Windows 98 DOS System Files, unzip it to a folder, and direct the HP program to this folder. You can use a 32MB USB drive if you wish, and it's a good idea to have one around, for other uses.

You may notice that the drive has no files in it after the HP utility formats it, but it's supposed to be like that, so just extract all the MSI BIOS files in there, and you're good to go.

Thanks for the help, worked well, though after installing the new BIOS, bad things happened. . .
but I was able to resolve them, so all good, thanks again.

From what other people have experienced this Bios fixes the keyboard failure problem (where the 1651/620 keyboard will randomly stop working).
