Found one of these on ebay for $225, but the 7970m is dead. I bought it

It has an A10-4600m and a 7970m which is dead. I have some Mobility 5850's and a 6770m without a ROM chip lying around and was wondering would they work? I heard this model had some issues with upgrading the video card. Was also wondering if I could put a A10-5750m in this as the later GX60's had those in them. BIOS update maybe?

He used an ES one. Of course it was unstable!

But thanks a bunch. That's some good stuff right there! He upgraded from a 4600m to a 5750m. It's just what I was looking for. I'm sure it would work though. HP's AMD Trinity laptops could be upgraded to Richlands effortlessly. I'm sure MSI would've implemented this too as their later GX60's have 5750m's in them.

I would update to your latest bios before doing it but a good chance.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking because the newer GX60's use Richlands and the HP G6 required a BIOS update in order for a Richland to operate correctly. It's probably the same principle here.

So I should us the BIOS that shipped with the Richland/Hitman edition model?

Compare it to the latest one listed for your model.
