LCD screen swapping is fairly easy. In most cases, you just remove the bezel (remove any protective pads to reveal screws, if applicable), unscrew the panel from the backing, remove the video cable and any other cables routed, and then insert the new screen (insert cables first, then screw into place and replace bezel/frame).

I'm not sure what screens are compatible with the gx740 though. If you want to do a simple replacement, you can contact MSI for the part number of the screen, and possibly even purchase a replacement from them outright. If you're looking to install a higher end display though, you'll need to do some research and/or ask around the forums to see if any users know of compatible screens. :)

I have upgraded the panel in my GX740 to a 1920x1200 LCD, manufactured by Samsung. I think most 1xCCFL (30-pin connector) 16:10 panels will be compatible.

Samsung uses the same vendor/manufacturer for their screens as Apple does; very good quality displays. OP, if you go with an upgrade, Marecki_clf is your go-to guy.

The panel I used came from Dell Precision M6300. It's a high end laptop, a mobile workstation. It's supposed to have good/very good quality screen. I think the same panels were used in XPS M1710/1730 DTRs.

Good luck! For your own sake, I recommend purchasing from users with a high feedback percentage, as well as those that are not individuals, but an actual online retailer with an inventory. There are also wholesale online retailers that are strictly LCD screen replacement specialists.

    Thank you Google Translate.

That seller looks legitimate: positive feedback percentage from many transactions, retailer rather than a private seller/individual, etc. Item is used, I see, so just check on their return policy/guarantee. Some sellers offer none!

And don't forget to give the seller feedback. It's the circle of cyber life on eBay! Also, if you have suggestions on the process when you install the screen, please provide any for other users. Good luck!
