So I've tried to install the webcam utility but it no longer works. When I got it, there was the ArcSoft program, which I accidentally uninstalled. When I tried to reinstall the utility, it seems the CD disk has some other software called "Simple Camera", and for some reason this doesn't work, it always gives me the error "No Camera Found" or something similar to that.

The webcam touch sensitive button works, so I'm not sure if it's a driver issue. Anyone been able to resolve this yet? It would be nice to get my webcam back...

I thought someone said all you gotta do is press the webcam button and the window pops up prompting you to install drivers?

yes, the button works, i get the little picture saying the webcam is on, but when I try to use the "Simple Camera" utility it says "no webcam found". Is there another utility i can try? I even tried installing a trial version of the arcsoft utility, but it doesn't detect the camera.

Try MSN messenger and see if it detects it. If not , go to device manager , uninstall it .. Reboot and let windows reinstall it.

Ps: arcsoft , easy cam or other bloatware crap aren't needed to use the cam Unless you want to record videos ...

And you not gonna find any drivers regarding the webcam on the driver DVD. It uses the one from windows

Thanks man, that's a good idea. I'll try that as soon as I get home, and let you know if it works.

mhmmm it's definitely not something you need. All I did was:
    -clean install win7 pro
    -install msi scm
    -tried on skype
    works perfectly

weird, i tried to uninstall scm and reinstall it, but still nothing. Went on MSN to try it out, but doesn't recognize that I have a webcam. I went to device manager, and my webcam doesn't show up...

Alotta folks are doing fresh install of Windows 7. Why dont you also, to make sure your system's clean of everything? I know I will, after the 2nd day of testing its stock setup.

    I'm 99.9% positive it will.

I've diagnosed/fixed most computers with system restore to "right before it started happening".

Be warned though anything you installed after that, you'll most likely have to unisntall/reinstall and everything...
