waiting for a uk release
MSI pricing is great, I love this range of machines. -

I think I'm in love. Not only is the 780r out for May, but the GX680, GT683R, GX780 also. Now just picking the right one.
-
I'm also eager about this release... seems to be quite light for a 17 incher... -

as nido23 said the GX780 has the GT 555M which included Optimus, a first for MSI models, same for the GX680

Yeah waiting for UK release will have to sell my Acer + GX660 for this worth every penny.
-
Seems the GT780R has been removed from the site. The GX780 is there though.

Although we were given the go ahead to launch the GT780R from MSI, NVIDIA advised that the 560M is under NDA. Anyone listing it before the NDA is up can jeopardize getting any allocation of this model/GPU. Since we do not want to chance losing any allocation of this new GPU, we took it down until the NDA has been lifted by NVIDIA.

See now im stuck we have here a great laptop but there is a problem the Asus G74 is coming now then we have this the gt780r im so dam puzzled i can afford both money is no problem but i really want a G74 this time around with the dual fans instead of the msi with just 1 fan cooling the system down
.
Can you guys help me out here ? cheers. -
Asus Use 2 fans but use none Extreme CPU and mid range GPU (GTX460)
That way they can run the laptop quietly (Damn G73 is really quite, m17x is like a jet engine under load) but alienware use high end card fan (6970m) so it gotta be noisy to cool it
Now the thing is MSI surely can cool mid range GPU+CPU using a single fan but the problem is how noisy is it going to be? using 1 fan will make it smaller than g74 i assume but will be more noisy
If you want near silent laptop G73 rocks but if noise is not an issue MSI can be a decent option too, just compare specs+size+price+noise levels and pick the best for you -
The main points of the GT780R are the ports:
USB USB2.0 X 3, USB 3.0 X2
Video Port VGA (15-pin, D-Sub) X 1, HDMI 1.4 X 1
Audio Port Mic-in X 1, Line-in X 1, Headphone X 1
E-SATA E-SATA Port X1
compare this to the G73 or the new G74. -
Cheers at the moment G74 but it all depends on certain things >_>
G74 i need to see cooling first fan speeds specs etc a decent bios unlike g73 on first release etc.
Where as MSI seem to work straight out of box my gx660 cools very well the problem with the 780r is it only has 1 vent and 1 fan is that correct ?
So to my understanding both laptops out weigh each other on different flaws etc both Asus and MSI are good trusted companies and have good kit. -
