Hello! I just got my Gt780 DXR and all was great until I noticed some sluggish gameplay. I played some games in window mode and noticed the power icon was switching from Plugged in and Unplugged which would be the reason it was acting sluggish. Sometimes it keeps doing it back n forth very fast. The DC socket does not seem loose at all. It switches pretty fast at times , other times it switches back n forth slowly. Also my powersupply/cord Makes a buzz noise and sometimes when I hit keys I can literally hear the electric noise from the powerbrick/supply correspond with my key pressing. MSI wants me to send the Laptop+cord. Is it possible this is just a Power supply cord issue? or perhaps something internal? I only notice it when Im playing bigger games such as battlefield 3, or Star wars Old republic. Never durring web browsing or posting a forum, such as now. D3 is around the corner and I dont want to send my brand new laptop that I just got to MSI ( which I have to pay for the shipping to them) if I dont have to. Please, if you can help me let me know and thank you for your time in this matter =/

    St1cky-

The best way to narrow down the culprit here would be to, if possible, try a different power supply. Perhaps your friends have an MSI power brick or one can be purchased temporarily to see. It also could be the flex affectng the power intake as well, when those keys are hit the noise occurs. This then, would be a motherboard issue.

    Just a few thoughts.

I dont know if this matters or not but I have had this computer running for the better part of 5 hours straight with the battery Out. So No battery and the cord obviously is plugged in and so far it has not had one problem at all. Also the turbo boost, Nvidia oc tool has been on this entire time, and before when batter was plugged in and I was still plugged into the wall outlet it would last about 20 minutes then turn off and not turn back on. So its been on straight for 5 hours ;/ So what does this mean?

Now the reverse, does it work only on battery power while surfing and running apps?

    There's no Turbo on battery.

I get 4+ hours on a fully charged battery using an SSD and 3 hours on a HDD while in power saving mode.

So I have been running it the entire day with the battery out. And it just started doing it again. However when it did it again the laptop just turned off since there was no battery in it. So that tells me it trully is Switching from the power supply to battery . the plug symbol disapears and reapers when this happens. So I stuck the battery back in. I have used the computer on battery several times till the point i need to charge it. It seems the problem I am having is it switching off power supply and using my battery but it only does it for a second. it goes right back to power supply. and sometimes it does this back n forth.

you should check your hdd smart for load cycle count. though it's possible to just have received a truly unused notebook damaged from the factory, it's also possible for the notebook to be refurbished. that's what happened to me. my hdd load cycle count was at 5000 when i received the notebook :)) (that could easily mean 2 months of use) although it looked and felt like new with all the plastic around the keyboard and on the webcam.

Tried to find that out maybe im not looking hard enough. My laptop works perfectly fine on Battery. When its plugged in These things happen(1)Power supply turns off and on ( switching from being plugged in to not plugged in using battery ) Not to be confused with " plugged in not charging" altho that happens even at 20% battery. (2) Power supply is loud/noisy (3) Computer turns off on its own, only when plugged in) It does not happen every second, when i go to play games or using youtube it starts to do this. Should I RMA the entire laptop? or do you fine people know of a good site that sells MSI power supplys?
