I just purchased a Msi GT780DX with a motherboard ruined by user error. I have found a replacement but mine is a ms-17611 ver1.1 and the new one is a ms-17611 ver1.0.
Is there any difference that would make it to were I can't use it?

The earlier revision is likely a 780 rather than a 780dx.
