Hi guys. I am new here and I have an MSI Titan 8SF laptop with intel core i7 8th gen. Currently, it has an 500gb SSD (m2 I think), and a 4tb samsung evo (Not sure what type). I am looking to upgrade storage for more games, but am not sure how many M2 slots I have. Does anyone know, or how I can find out? If I open up back of laptop, am not sure what I am supposed to be looking for. Help appreciated![]()

Under the aluminium heatsink(that sits on the palm rest zone) there will be three m.2 slots, one can take either NVMe or SATA m.2 SSD's, the other two are NVMe only, there is also a SATA3 2.5 inch bay under those m.2 SSDs.

1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3)
2x M.2 SSD Combo slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA)
2x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3) , support Intel M.2 NVMe SSD Device only
1x 2.5" SATA HDD
What brand of m2 can I put in one of the 3 m2 slots that are under the aluminium heatsink? Further help is greatly appreciatedLast edited: May 19, 2020 -
Any brand can be used, the two m.2 slots that are to the left the heatsink only take Intel Optane drives, so just forget that those two exist.

Optane only drives are only available at up to 32GB, there are Optane plus storage drives but not sure if those can be used on those two m.2 slots, and Optane is only used as a cache memory that is managed by the Intel Management Engine.
