    GT73VR TITAN PRO-NE1080 HDD Upgrade

    Hi,

    So I am planning to upgrade the hard drive of my computer.

    I currently have 256GB M.2 SATA + 1TB mechanical (7200RPM), and I was planning to replace the 1 TB HDD with an ssd.

    I am not an expert so I have done some research and I found that my laptop has an M.2 sata interface + Sata. Giving me in total 2 PCI slots 1 Sata M.2 slot and one sata 2.5 slot/ space. ( I am really not sure I got this right)

    Now, since my operating system is already installed on the ssd, I was planning to clone/change my mechanical drive only. and before buying my new SSD I realized that I am not sure what should I buy.

    While I know that PCI slots can allow the ssd hd for it's full data transfer potential, I read somewhere that I can not use two different size SSDs on my PCI nor SATA m.2 slots. So I am only left with the option of buying a normal 2.5 sata ssd and replacing my mechanical drive with it. Now, again, I am not sure I got all this right.

    My questions are:
    1. Can I install a 1 TB PCI ssd and install it in the extra PCI slot ? will it work normally alone with my original ssd and mechanical drive?
    2. If I can't do the above, can I remove my mechanical drive and install a 1 TB sata SSD in its slot ? will install an ssd in the sata slot mean that I am not getting the full potential from my SSD ?
    3. In case I got it all wrong, what are my options to replace my 1tb with an SSD ?
    4. Last newbee question, what is Raid 0 ... I read about it and I did not really understand if it is relevant to me.

    The GT73VR has
    2x Combo for SATA/NVMe M.2 SSDs
    1x SATA M.2
    1x SATA for 2,5" HDD with an max high of 9.5mm = 0,374016" (not sure with the values from metric into ")
    If you have open your Notebook the first slot is the M.2 SATA SSD Slot and the both on the right side of it are the NVMe ports.
    1. Should work absolutly fine

    Thank you for the answer, I have done a little bit more research and now I know that I dont have raid 0 setup.

    My GT73 I have a 960GB SSD in the 2.5" bay, a 1TB NVMe that I added in the second PCIe slot, and the original 128GB NVMe the OS used to be installed on in the default position.

    So yes it does make a lot of sense to get rid of the HDD entirely. It's about to be 2019.
