    service / or web-ticket on MSI !
,.or you only get GPU 43 error ,.,.or no screen and similar problems

why you need 4K ?? better is your full HD - for this HW

    Hi fellow, I also have a GT72s 6QE Dominator Pro G Tobii since 2016, GTX 980M, 32GB. It's a great machine, but is getting a bit old...
I looking to buy a new machine, but sadly the currency of my country (Brazil, BRL) is so depreciated against to US Dollar, so, buy a strong new machine now (with RTX 2080 / 3080 and other exciting toys), is so painful. :(

The 1080p screen is fine for me, I have a dual 144hz monitors, so, no upgrades needed.

But, I planning to made small upgrades, at "low" costs:
    - Upgrade the GPU GTX 980m -> GTX 1070 (Desktop) MXM 3.0b (I have googled about this and found some fellows who did this, but I'm not sure if works fine, so, do you know any tip about this? The GTX 1070 GPU -> https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001559762554.html)
    - Upgrade the i7 CPU to a new generation I discovered that CPU is soldered on the motherboard :(
    - Upgrade de PCIE SSD to a Gen 4, 7000 Mb/s (500 GB is enough)

    Thank you!

I tested by myself this MSI GTX 1070 and it’s working fine in GT72s.

    Really cool! =D
Did you need to upgrade the AC Adapter? I have the original one of 230W and planning to use it.
Did you applied the heat sink silicone pad on GPU components?

No, the 230w Adapter is enough for the GTX 1070.
I used the same pads from my 980m.

Be aware that this MSI GTX 1070 in a GT72 is not a Plug and Play deal. If you get "Stuck" with the wrong card, eg: 1BA1 non g sync when you need a 1BE1 g syn you are going to be out a lot of money. Know that you will be running a Non UEFI supported card that will only run in your GT72 with pure UEFI enabled! You should also have the equipment and knowledge for using a flashing programmer or using NFlash so you can flash the V BIOS because none of these "Sharks" on the net are going to help you out and there are a load of different flashed cards out there.Comments from people on these threads should be taken with a grain of salt as most of them will lead you down the Rabbit Hole with a "Hell ya That works! Look at my Score. They havent got the time to explain what it takes to do it.These are the same people that whine about "failures" because they dont have the skills or knowledge required to perform an upgrade and document it from start to finish. Check out those peoples posts and qualifications. There is a "cliqe" on here who make a lot of outrageous statements like "Sanding on a CPU or GPU die to improve heat transfer and then bounce around the threads patting each other on the back over their "Fantastic Discovery" Most have their heads up their axe! Do some hard research before putting out your money. The only real working upgrades are those with like cards among like machines.eg: 1060 to1070 MSI Unless of course you have the ability to edit MoBo BIOS and,or, Video BIOS.
A 980m and MSI GTX 1070 require different GPU heatsinks for proper contact unless the 980m sink is considerably modified. A correct GT72VR 2 piece heatsink for the 1070 is $240+ right now. Add that into the cost! While they look the same the card contacts ARE NOT! Look closely at the posted threads on your proposed swap.Follow them to the end. The majority end when someone asks a pertinent question and the original poster replies with a "Oh something didnt work out" and he has gone back to the original card, burnt up a motherboard or has his "Marvel" posted For Sale. This is the same guy that had "The Fantastic Break-thru" Sure. he got the card in and recognized and ran a benchmark, but no mention of no fan control, battery charging and power management woes Sad!
Below link is Eurocoms other "Hat".A $72 payment to these guys for a modded v bios got me a "well, it should have worked! Professionals"
Get a USED GT72VR on ebay for $1000 and save yourself $ and grief!

Edit: The code to run the GTX 1070 is in the GT72VR mobo bios..IT IS ENCRYPTED!!!

Totally amazing that this is the only person that does this. When do you make a donation? Before or after?
Regarding the Link to the Alibaba posted card.
Look closely at that card under the zoomer. Notice how they have taken the time to "Blur" portions of the writings on the card. Is that to make it appear "Generic" or outright misleading you??
An informed buyer will know his cards numbering and lettering. Card pictured has the "favoured" Samsung chips BUT is this the card your getting?? ASK! No answer or sketchy, go elsewhere.

And how in hell are you gonna extract an ENCRYPTED MoBo VIDEO BIOS to run it.
