    Hi

I'd really like to get hold of the new GT729 (I was all set to buy a 725 and was told by MSI that this has been discontinued and is being replaced by this new model). Just wondered if anyone might know when the 729 will be released in the UK or if I can get one shipped from abroad?

    Thanks very much.

Aye, waiting for this myself. I wonder what pricing will be like.
Does anyone know what CPU's will be offered for this model? P8600/Q9000/P9500?

I had a GT725 on order, but due to the supplier cocking up the order, am still waiting. The supplier said the GT725 was now 'end-of-life' and therefore hard to get another one in stock.

I rang MSI. A helpful guy there confirmed the GT729 will be out 'mid-August' (but couldn't give a specific date and said to confirm nearer the time). I was told it will be Q9000 CPU, have a 1GB ATI 4850, 500GB HD, Blu-ray and be a 1650x1080 screen (apparently the 1900x1200 panel was hard to source, causing the shortage of the GT725-210UK model).

According to MSI, it will only be available in the one variation of the model, rather than the 2 for the GT725.

It will retail for the same price as the GT725-210UK, at a SRP of £1350.

Sounds like a bloody nice laptop for the money; where's MSI's crossfire, multi-HDD version; they'd clean up if the prices stayed consistant!
